原It doesn't really matter how Ebenezer Scrooge ended up at the end of the novel, when considering his name. When I hear Ebenezer, all I can think of is the character from the book. "A Christmas Carol" has become so iconic that there really is no other association. And unless the novel were to fall out of popularity/off the canon--*highly* unlikely, and it would sadden me if this happened--this name just isn't practical on a child.
