原We named our puppy Cedar. It's a cute name for a dog or any pet, although that is my opinion. It's not very common for pets. We are from the Northwest so wanted a strong name associated with it. Red Cedar is very popular along the Washington Coast and is gorgeous. Our puppy is a hunting dog and he is very pretty and tough. We love it.
原Everything about Cedar screams masculine: the "dar" ending, the hard pronunciation, the fact that it is a type of tree! However, after looking on this page I could see it both ways. Pretty out there for both genders but super cool.
原I am VERY surprised to see this name labeled as solely feminine according to this page. Cedar to me is very boyish and masculine and is MUCH more suitable on a male. The name to me belongs to a male.

原I like this name because I have only met one guy named Cedar and, as the name sounds strong and sturdy to me, it seemed appropriate to me because he had those same qualities - physically and in his personality. I have to disagree though with the listing where it says that this name is feminine - a cedar tree is what comes to my mind - hardly a feminine picture to me!
