原I respect this name as a perfectly fine surname. I think its meaning of 'badger' is rather endearing and in that sense makes it go along with all the other animal names (names meaning things like bear, wolf, lion, lamb, etc). However, I personally hate this as a first name because of how it sounds and looks. The sound is just too short, clipped, and harsh for me. I like strong masculine names, but this is just too 'sharp'-sounding, and it makes it awkward somehow. It is not what I would call a "strong masculine name". The fact that it rhymes with, and is unfortunately now often identified with, stereotypical 'jocks' only makes me like it even less (this is partly because it only came into use as a first name in the past couple decades). It also has the feeling and association of being an "American" and trendy name. Meaning no offense to those with this name or who like it, of course, but I think this name is better left as a surname and not used a first name.
原I'm genuinely confused as to why people like this name. Maybe this is a secret to the older generations, but to teenagers this name is a stereotypical name for a super-popular dumb-as-nails jock. Just like Chad and anything else the popular guys in movies are always named.
